Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Co., Ltd, Japan Received an Honorable Environment Award from Ministry of Environment & Forestry of The Republic Indonesia

September 16, 2020 – Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Co.,Ltd. received an Award of Nature

Conservation for the KSDAE (Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam & Ekonomi - Conservation of Natural Resources and Ecosystems) partner category of the Business Entity element who cares about strengthening the function of conservation areas, which awarded by Ministry of Environment & Forestry of The Republic Indonesia. The award was granted on September 16, 2020 at the summit of the 2020 National Nature Conservation Day (HAKN) event at Bontang Mangrove Park Kutai National Park, Bontang, East Kalimantan. This award has been the first award for Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Co.,Ltd to ever received from Ministry of Environment and Forestry, for its contribution and effort to strengthen the function of conservation areas in Indonesia, especially in the Paliyan Wildlife Sanctuary.

The Tropical Rainforest Recovery in Paliyan has been conducted by Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Co., Ltd, for 15 years, as a result of collaboration with other various parties, from public and private organizations. This project is as part of our responsibility to help improving global environmental problem as well as a preventive effort related to climate change issue. Various efforts have been made in reforestation and building communities that may live in harmony with the forest. The condition of the forest, which was decimated previously, has returned to green and the ecosystem has returned to its original condition. The existence of long-tailed monkeys, which is sharply decreased, currenly is increasing in population and re-entering to Paliyan Wildlife Sanctuary.

Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Co.,Ltd is proud to receive the award and become so inspire to continue their contribution in restoring wildlife sanctuary and regenerating tropical forests in The Special Region of Yogyakarta.

The forest rehabilitation project in Paliyan has been implemented by Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Co., Ltd, in collaboration with other parties for 15 years. This project is as part of responsibility to help improving global environmental problem and also as preventive effort related to climate change issue.
